We have all noticed and commented how competing media companies seem to be a lot less hesitant to talk about their competition. I have noticed for years that both CTV and Global will run feature stories on ETalk or Entertainment Tonight Canada on "the other" networks new show, either domestic or imported. Usually they will even include the time and day of the program.
The National decades ago did a feature report on Corner Gas when it was finishing it's successful run on CTV. The report had interviews with the cast and segments showing filming of the final show.
Another example of this is on CBC.ca with a feature article on Lilly Singh hosting a new summer replacement show on CTV that had it's debut yesterday. The article even includes a CTV promo for show, Battle Of The Generations.

Not that this takes away from paterson1's point about cross promotion between networks, but it's fair to note this article was from The Canadian Press and not the CBC. It's a subtle difference, but an important one - they didn't actually do the story, just reprint it. The fact they chose to publish it is the interesting part.

And the fact that they chose to run the article with a promo 4 days prior to the debut of CTV program also significant.
Don't think I ever said that CBC or one of their staff wrote the piece.

No, you didn't. But you pointed out the fact it's on CBC, and it's easy to jump to the conclusion that their staff wrote it. As noted, a subtle difference but as someone who once was the Managing Producer of a Toronto TV news website, I can tell you it's a lot easier to virtually cut and paste an article than to have to write and do all the research and interviews yourself!
