It's a pioneering TV station that served Kitchener-Waterloo with news and a remarkable amount of original programming. And now a new podcast is tracing the history of CKCO-TV by featuring the people who were there. The first one involves those behind the production of the local Channel 13 version of Romper Room. CKCO was more than a local TV station in Waterloo Region

I wonder if the people behind these podcasts know about this history from the station's past.
CKCO-TV wasn't the first one to have those call letters. They actually once belonged to and were used by what became CKOY in Ottawa. From June 1949:
And even when the calls were surrendered, what we now know as Channel 13 was originally headed for a different dial position. April 1953:

Here is a clip from CKOC's Canadian Bandstand broadcasting from Laura Secord Secondary School in St. Catharines. They did an hour special with Rush. This is from 1974 and prior to Neil Peart joining the band. Interesting that a local show like this would take the time do a remote from a location 90 minutes away from the station.
