His name is Chris Licht and he's the new head honcho in charge of CNN, the exec. who gave the go-ahead and then praised the disastrous Trump Town Hall a few weeks ago. (Disastrous because it was filled with misinformation and led to a huge drop in ratings for the entire network.)
The changes this guy has initiated at the all-news network have so alarmed staff members, that some high-profile anchors have now gone to upper management to complain about their new boss. That takes some guts, but there have been increasing reports that workers at CNN are extremely unhappy with what's been happening at the network.
And as the linked Newsweek article notes, a very unflattering piece on Licht in The Atlantic just further lit the torch of discontent.
"[The author] spoke with "dozens of staffers" among CNN's 3,500-strong team. "There are a wide range of emotions coursing through the halls of CNN," he said. "Some staffers are frustrated. Others are angry. Many are sad about the awful state of affairs that has taken hold of an organization they love."
To have your own anchors, arguably the highest profile workers with the most power at a network, turn on you, does not bode well. As the story indicates, this discontent can't be allowed to go on long and some observers expect the other shoe to drop soon. Whether Licht will be there when it does remains to be seen.

The level of self-inflicted harm caused by the Trump thing has been entertaining, to say the least. It's like watching Sideshow Bob stepping on all the rakes.

The Atlantic piece took me an hour to read on the weekend. It was a pretty unflattering profile. If you're interested in the guy's philosophy and want to know how he came to his decisions it's worth the read.

If ever anyone publicly sabotaged his own career, it's this guy. Talk about not reading the room. Where could he land next? Fox News? Newsmax? Who else would hire him?

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Perhaps he did what the new right-wing billionaire ownership really wanted. He completely crated CNN's long-time viewing audience.
It's a wonder that MSNBC hasn't thanked him publicly.

He was the "New Coke" of cable news.

Maybe. But don't forget about Michael "Game Show" Richards... his self inflicted career jeopardy last summer was pretty entertaining in its own way....
