If you're a CBC listener or viewer in the Windsor area, you may not hear or see much of the network at times in the coming week. The reason: transmitter maintenance. (It probably shouldn't affect cable reception, but they don't officially say that.)
"Maintenance taking place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET this week may result in periods of signal loss," the Corp. warns.
My question: Why in God's name are they doing maintenance between 9 AM and 5 PM, certainly the worst time of the day for it? How about overnights, when the audience is much lower? I'm sure there must be a reason for the odd timeframe, but I couldn't tell you what it is.
Possible CBC Windsor outages due to transmission work

Dealt with a similar situation years ago in eastern Ontario. Napanee's myFM station, CKYM-FM 88.7, transmits from the same site as CJOH-TV's now-dark Deseronto rebroadcaster (ch. 6), and when climbers were scheduled to go up, 88.7's transmitting power would need to be temporarily reduced until the workers were no longer on the tower. Adjusting the power levels is easily done by logging into the FM transmitter's Burk remote control unit and raising/lowering the power output level.
CBC Windsor could be undergoing some antenna/tower work, which can really only be done during daylight hours.

I have no direct knowledge, but if I was to guess, I'd say it is to perform a detailed tower(s) inspection for structural certification/insurance purposes. Second, the towers may need to be re-painted or have OWL / Strobe work done.
Other issues could be chasing/repairing a section or section(s) of transmission line, or leaking seals.
I think the Windsor TV tower also had FM on it (I could be wrong)

The work at CBC Windsor is part of a larger CBC Transmission group project to remove older, unused antenna elements and transmission line sections.
Our shop was forwarded a request/advisory from CBC Transmission sometime yesterday detailing tower work scheduled for Mid June in Northern Ontario.... basically, CBC contractors are removing old unused antenna elements and transmission line sections. We have been asked to reduce power at certain times during their work... we'll just power down completely... Safety Code 6 considerations et al...
I expect that there will be other sites that will have similar work performed during the summer months....
