Long time Toronto media guru Dave Charles has been looking into Artificial Intelligence and how it will affect radio for some time.
He asked various radio execs. in Australia (where he's currently consulting) what they thought of the new technology when it comes to replacing announcers. And then he asked ChatGPT itself what it thought about its own future as the next automated personality.
Here's what they both said:
AI Radio is knocking on your door….will you answer it?

What about the Leafs? can AI make a prediction about the Leafs?
Hey, maybe MLSE can get rid of Dubas, and employ a Sports Management AI GBT thing-thing-me-jig. I mean Dubas is a numbers/stats guy, so a computer AI logarithm is a natural evolution (his contract aside)

I asked ChatGPT your question. Here's what it said (and why it may never really replace us!)
--------
As an AI language model, I do not have the ability to predict the future with certainty, especially when it comes to sports outcomes. The outcome of a game can depend on many variables, including the players' performance on the day of the game, injuries, strategies, and other unpredictable factors. However, I can say that the Toronto Maple Leafs have a talented team and have shown resilience in the past, so it is possible for them to come back and win against the Florida Panthers. Ultimately, the outcome of the game will depend on how both teams perform on the day of the game.

Well, THAT was helpful! Perhaps it has a future in feeding sports cliches to athletes being interviewed.
