According to CBC International, it happened on this day - December 23, 1900, more than a century ago - and it wasn't Marconi. It was Canadian Reginald Fessenden and his message was “One Two Three Four — is it snowing where you are Mr. Thiessen? If it is, telegraph back to me.”
How Canadian - he talked about the weather! No word if he at some point threw to a word from his sponsor.

It wasn't 'Call NOW!'?

I imagine Saul Korman did a 4-minute meandering spot on that broadcast followed by something for Frank Leo and his wunderkind selling.
"We're number 1."

"I've been in the business 35+ years and I don't know how this happened. Twenty million dollars of jewellry showed up magically on my front counter. (Perhaps off the back of a truck) And now I have to close. So I'm selling everything for up to 80% off. Imagine the markup I'm not getting. This "store closing sale" will go on for almost a year. I'll probably get more multi-millions of diamonds magically appear, so other stores will have to close. I wish I hired an accountant and inventory control. Oh, look, another shipment... where does it all come from?"
