Shaw redirected $10 million to Global News in 2017 when it shut down 3 local comminty channels in Western Canada. I recall hearing that as part of the Rogers takeover of Shaw that money would be re-directed to Cityty stations. Now that the takeover is complete I've been waiting to see what that shortfall will mean to Global News. So far, I've seen nothing but wonder when the axe will start to swing at Global News.
The recent discussion in another thread suggesting Global needs to open a full station in Ottawa brought this back to mind. With a $10 million hole in the pocket I can't imagine they will be able to keep up the current level of News programming, let alone expand it.

That $10 million was directed to the BC, Calgary, and Edmonton stations from my understanding. They used it to get some political and community reporters, as well as boost their local political/community/sports coverage.
Global has already scrapped local sports highlights segments in Calgary and Edmonton (BC still has a sports dept). 2 reporters who covered sports in each city were retained (1 assigned to a sports beat, the other to news); in addition, 1 long time sports reporter in Edmonton was laid off.
I don’t know if Global can cut any more from any of their stations Saskatchewan-eastward, so my guess would be that the axe will hit somewhere at Global’s 3 strongest stations in the west.

I suspect Global Okanagan would have some vulnerability. That operation has remained more or less independent of Global BC even after joining the Global News group.
Pure speculation, I don’t work for Shaw, Rogers or Corus.
