Was Veteran Buffalo Radio Newsman Fired Or Retired?

The Buffalo News's Alan Pergament suspects WBEN's longtime morning newsman John Zach - who's been there for 18 years - was let go, but no one's confirming anything. One interesting point made in the story is that despite being a morning news person on one of the top stations in the city for nearly two decades, he only made about $60,000 a year.

The word "retirement" isn't in John Zach's vocabulary

John Zach and Susan Rose took over the morning show after Bill Lacy moved to WHTT in 2001. Zach's replacement (assuming he's being replaced) will be only the seventh person to hold down morning duties at WBEN since the '30s.

$60,000 a year ?   Really ?    That sounds pretty good compared to this side of the border unless you are in perhaps Toronto, or Vancouver.

I know what some Newscasters in Canada in a similar size market are making, and it ain't 60 grand a year.

Either I have a dirty mind, or I had to look at the poster and figure the second from the left guy's first name is "Clint"
