I was poppin' through the link to the other board serving south western Ont and I noticed a thread about jingles which got me to thinkin' about how EFFECTIVE jingles were for McDonalds...and Coke and other successful businesses along the way. Why? "cause people remember the message way better when it's set to music. And I recall going places back in the day and having people I'd meet while I was out 'representing' the station I worked for SING our jingle[s] back at me.
Jingles work. Radio was just plain double D-dumb to lose them. These countless liners? Not nearly as effective...or memorable...or [therefore] successful.
If music radio is all about music...'telling' people all about it seems...well...stupid.
