Tubi TV To Offer Two New Documentaries. Hopefully, Canada Can See Them

The Fox-owned streaming service Tubi.tv is available in Canada, and has announced two new original documentaries. The first is on a modern day genius/troublemaker, called "The Cult Of Elon Musk." It follows the innovator from his development of Tesla to his possibly ill-advised purchase of Twitter.

The other doc is about online vigilantism, and how what seems like a good idea could go very, very, wrong.

"Through the incredible and dystopian story of a manhunt for an arsonist in Los Angeles, the documentary follows the crime and neighborhood watch app, Citizen, as it sprung into action and tracked down a possible suspect, blasting out his photo to the app's one million LA followers. With Citizen issuing a $30,000 bounty for the suspect – there was just one problem – they had the wrong guy."

The Musk story comes online April 24th, while the intriguing Vigilante story will be available for free starting May 6th and hopefully won't be geoblocked in Canada. Other documentaries on the influence of chatbots, mass shootings and ticket scalping are coming later in the year.

Tubi is one of several so-called FAST (Free Ad Supported Streaming TV) services that is not relying just on old movies and TV shows to attract an audience. More and more of them are spending the money on originals to try to get your attention. These originals may help do just that.
