What missing from Canadian Talk Radio ?

Laughter and fun.  Radio in Canada takes itself way too seriously. Radio is going through tough times, or is it? Not once  programmers figure out that listening to hosts whine about everything from healthcare to Trudeau is unpleasant. I pick my friends on a zillion characteristics; moaning and complaining is not one. So tough times? More like self-inflicted wounds.

In reality, radio does not have to be going through bad times; in fact, in the UK, its growing. In the first quarter of 2020, radio reached 88.1 percent of the UK population. This was lower compared to the first quarter of 2019, when 89.4 percent of the UK population was reached by radio.

Time to wake up Canada, or radio, will go the way of sheet music of God Save The Queen.

Re: What missing from Canadian Talk Radio ?

Well stated Stinand!!   Media in this country and especially in Southern Ontario takes itself way too seriously and has an over inflated sense of importance.  Wonder why people aren't listening, viewing or reading local media as much?  You are too negative, have no sense of fun, not relating, and  BORING PEOPLE TO DEATH.

Much of the media (especially news) portrays the average Canadian/Ontarian as a bitter, whiny, insecure, hard done by and often angry individual.   While there is some of that anywhere, it is not the norm. Why our media focuses so much on negativity, needless conflict and with no fun allowed is a mystery.

Maybe we have a lot of insecure, angry, whiny and bitter people in the broadcast business running things?

Congrats Stinand on a great post!  And long overdue.
