The year 2016 has struck again, and this time, it's claimed Bob Washington.
In case that name doesn't ring a bell, the videos below should. He was the voice of all those infamous K-Tel commercials that ran in the 70s, and later inspired hilarious satires by the SCTV gang. Washington died on Dec. 10 at the age of 82.

This is spooky for me since a few days ago, I got into a discussion with someone and the question came up of who voiced those memorable K-tel spots.
I thought to myself, I'll just ask on SOWNY, someone there will surely know.
Guess I didn't have to. 2016 strikes again.
Rest in peace.
Wash was a good guy. Cared about Winnipeg. Was a legend at CKRC. But we in the media all came together to plan and then put on the annual Schmockey Night fund-raiser filling the 14,500 seat Winnipeg Arena year after year. It was an honour to 'play' with him on THAT 'team'.
Condolences to Bob's family, friends and fans. He sure made his lasting mark. [and read the funnies too.]
