If a sitcom works, you can usually tell within the first three episodes. If it doesn't, sometimes it only takes one. CTV is hoping for the former over the latter as it tries to "book" a new half hour comedy for the network, a show called "Shelved." It takes place in a Toronto library and will run for eight episodes.
Not the most dynamic setting for a comedy, I'll admit. (How many "shush" jokes can you make in 22 minutes?) But it has a decent pedigree, with a former "Office" worker behind the concept.
You can "check out" your first sample when it debuts on March 6th (a Monday) and you can read all about it here.

Sounds like a sequel to TVO’s Bookmice.

Speaking of new Canadian shows, how's this for a concept: a disabled man suffering from cerebral palsy makes his way in a world not built for him. Would you believe it's a comedy? It's part of an original 15-minute show called "You're My Hero" that will make its debut solely on CBC Gem next month.
Its star and creator has lived that life and believes he can turn his experience not only into a meaningful TV show, but one that will make you laugh. You can find out when it debuts online March 24th.
