He's kind of the Roger Ashby of Montreal radio. Only Terry DiMonte didn't stay at just one radio station during his decades on the air in La Belle Province's biggest city. He was one of the top morning men, until his contract wasn't renewed by Bell Media.
But after a move to Vancouver, he soon found himself in the battle for his life, after being diagnosed with serious cardiac issues. And after open heart surgery, he suffered serious complications that led to his being on life support for 25 days. He's still recovering and wonders now if getting up at 3:30 AM for years and years led to his health issues.
“Sleep deprivation, which has been my life for nearly 40 years in radio, contributes to all kinds of health issues,” he said. “Since I started doing the CHOM morning show on Greene Ave. in 1984, I have not had a decent night’s sleep. … This has been a terrific job that I’ve loved and had a ball doing, but this (getting up at) 3:30 a.m. business really sucks.”

Terry and Ted were excellent during my time in Montreal. They were as good as any morning show in the country.
