CRTC Officially Removes RT & RT France From Cdn. Cable Distribution

The Commission calls the Russian government-run services "not in the public interest." Many of the big cable companies had already voluntarily taken them off their systems.

"The Commission finds that the continued authorization for broadcasting distribution undertakings (BDUs) to distribute RT (formerly known as Russia Today) and RT France is not in the public interest as their content appears to constitute abusive comment since it tends or is likely to expose the Ukrainian people to hatred or contempt on the basis of their race, national or ethnic origin and that their programming is antithetical to the achievement of the policy objectives of the Broadcasting Act."

Re: CRTC Officially Removes RT & RT France From Cdn. Cable Distribution

The original story with RT happened in the spring of last year. But now there's a new controversy.

After that "weather balloon" (note the quotation marks) was spotted over the U.S. and Canada, one federal politician wants to know why the government hasn't requested that the CRTC ban a TV station with ties to Communist China that's allowed on our cable systems here.

Re: CRTC Officially Removes RT & RT France From Cdn. Cable Distribution

Same folks that want to kill the CBC are for 'freedom of speech' for access to RT, NewsMax, OAN, FOX News, Rebel News, True North, Canada Proud, etc., being made more widely accessible or available on their cable/sat subscriptions...the stupidity abounds...
