The Sad, Slow Decline Of AM

I know it's a relic of radio's early days, and that the forces of technology (including electric vehicles) have all conspired against AM's survival, but I would miss the band if it were to disappear, as it already has in many places in Europe. There's a sound to the band - not to mention the over-the-air reach of those signals - that I really appreciate. And I would miss it if it were to gradually disappear.

This brief article shows how there's a slow drip-drip-drip of AM's fate in the U.S. and of course, many of those that are still on the air are now simply an alternate to an FM repeater. The numbers fall a little bit more every year. Pretty sad.
