Buffalo’s WEBR Hit With $1 Million Suit By Former Operations Manager

They may play the old standards, but a now ex-employee alleges WEBR Buffalo (the former WJJL Niagara Falls) doesn't have any when it comes to treating at least one female employee properly.

"According to court papers, Gilien “began to inappropriately touch plaintiff in a sexual manner at least twice a week” starting around September 2021 when he was hired as COO.

The suit claims Freeman was “humiliated on a regular basis in this fashion and her superior attempted to use his position to garner sexual favors.” Freeman says she complained to the company’s Human Resource Director numerous times.

After an incident in which Gilien allegedly “put his hands down Plaintiff’s shirt so far that his hand was in the middle of her back,” Freeman met with the Human Resource Director and her coworkers where the HR Director said the activity “needed to stop.”

That same day Freeman says she was demoted by Gilien to Traffic Manager [and later terminated.]"
