Carl Lam has been the weekend meteorologist on Buffalo's WGRZ-TV since the fall of 2021. But he's also done fill-in for CityNews 680, making him a partially familiar name to some in the GTA.
But this is the first time I've ever seen this - Lam was not only doing weather for Channel 2 on Sunday, he also turned up in the exact same hour on CityNews' TV cast. I'm pretty sure the Toronto appearance was pre-taped and he clearly wasn't in the studio. Instead, he was in a generic background.
Still, that has to be a first - the same TV weatherman doing a forecast in two different cities in two different countries at virtually the exact same time.

Is that also the first time a Buffalo news anchor/presenter has filled the same role on an Ontario station?

Not sure about that, but Lam is quite a talent. He's also appeared on TV stations in Ohio and on the BBC. But that's not all. In addition to being a fully qualified meteorologist who does both radio and TV, he's also an accomplished concert violinist, playing with many different orchestras. You can see and hear a sample of his talent below. Pretty amazing.

Hey MJ, Carl also does work for Citytv in Vancouver, covered the snowstorm in BC a few days ago. This is one motivated guy. Has his MBA, resource analyst at University of Buffalo, plays violin, meteorologist, does community volunteer work and he isn't even 30 yet! https://twitter.com/CarlHLam?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Imagine what he could accomplish if he'd just apply himself!

At the top of his twitter page, very touching words about his late mother. Carl lost both his mother and father within one year. Something tells me that Carl Lam is going to have a very bright future. And not necessarily in media.
