I found this in my TV Guide archives. It's about the old "zonks" - the booby prizes - that were awarded to unsuccessful contestants on the old Monty Hall-hosted "Let's Make A Deal." The show is back on CBS today, with Wayne Brady as host and to be honest, I have no idea what losers get when they pick the wrong door/box/package since I don't watch this new version.

But according to this short 1977 story, the producers sometimes discovered to their great dismay that a few contestants actually wanted to claim their "zonks" and take them home with them. In those rare cases, those at the program had no choice but to deliver them under the rules that governed game shows. And so it was that one wanted the six baby calves he was given while another insisted they deliver that hippopotamus that was behind the curtain. 

A fun read, and I certainly hope the producers have learned from the show's history that sometimes, it's not just the contestants that wind up as the real losers.
