Just came across a very old piece that ran as a "Monitor 680" feature on the old rock formatted CFTR in 1980. It is a very short interview with a guy from Bell Labs in the U.S. who predicted a future that appeared to be extremely far-fetched at the time - that we'd one day be able to play video games with each other over a phone line.
It seemed ridiculous at the time - we barely had computers, let alone the Internet. Yet as I listened to the story, which runs about three minutes, I was astounded at how close he came to envisioning what actually happened. It may have sounded unbelievable at the time, and there's even a small point in the piece where he laughs at his own prediction.
I'm not sure where Mr. Lucky is now (and yes, that was his real name) but he was right. Even if no one knew it back then.
You can hear the Monitor 680 here.

Wow, thanks for that. I had no idea about his background. The guy not only predicted what would come, it appears he helped build it, as well. Quite an amazing guy who was anything but just Lucky. (Even if he did work for Bell...)
