Christie Blatchford was not only a muckraking and plain-spoken journalist, she was also a frequent panelist on CFRB's Roundtables and other shows. Many of those who are still there refer to her even years after her passing from cancer.

I just discovered that on Oct. 16th, the now former CFRB P.D./Brand Manager Mike Bendixen ran in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon to raise funds for a scholarship in her name. The original goal was $2,000 and wound up at just over $3,500. Among those on the donor list are some well known broadcast names, including Jesse Dylan, Ted Woloshyn, Glenn Crouter, Iain Grant, and newly re-elected mayor and former RB afternoon drive host John Tory. 

As far as I can tell, it's still open if anyone finds the cause is something they'd like to contribute to. 

And for the record, I have no association with either Bendixen or Blatchford but it's a nice thing he did for a friend.
