Long-time Canadian Press editor Alan Black dies at 64

One of the best editors I even worked with. No one worked harder. R.I.P. Alan Black.

Re: Long-time Canadian Press editor Alan Black dies at 64

I worked with Al for decades at BN/CP and as the article suggested, he had a short temper, was gruff, and didn’t suffer fools. But you could never fault his work. And if your work was up to his level he wasn't afraid of letting you know it was appreciated.

He was also commissioner of the BN/CP hockey pool for years. He even designed a website for us to check on our team's progress. He studiously updated the standings every night. Like everything else, when he took on a project he made sure it was done properly.

It's a shame he didn't get to enjoy his retirement longer.

Rest in peace Al.

"The true embodiment of what CP is all about." I can't top those words from another former BN colleague in describing Alan. I never worked with anyone as dedicated to getting the product right. He'll be missed by all of us.
