Almost No On Air Staff Left At Elmnt FM In Toronto & Ottawa After Cuts

It's not a real surprise that when you get ratings that are 0.1 or less in book after book, year after year, that you won't be making a lot of money. And now FYIMusicNews is reporting that severe budget cuts have resulted in almost no on air staff being left at either of the Elmnt FMs in Toronto (106.5) or Ottawa (95.7.)

The Indigenous-formatted rock stations have been on the air since 2018 but have consistently failed to attract anything but a tiny audience and likely, an equally small amount of advertising.

FYI quotes President/CEO Jean LaRose as saying he's confident that the "numbers will continue to grow," although exactly where he's finding that confidence is almost impossible to know given terrible book after terrible book.

“This wasn’t an easy decision but it was the only way to ensure we could remain part of the broadcast industry in Ottawa and Toronto.”

The station's website lists only two actual personalities on air - Cody Coyote and Julian Taylor.

It's the third story down in FYIMusicNews' Media Beat

Julian Taylor is a great musician and song writer.  He fronts the Julian Taylor Band and was lead singer of the group Staggered Crossing.  Further Again was a great single by Staggered Crossing that got some traction on radio, especially on satellite with CBC's Galaxie but never moved over to top 40. Great video that looks like it was shot at the CNE..https://www.yout-ube.com/watch?v=JFxWrfl4SQE
