At Last! A "Community" Movie - But Will Canadians Ever Get To See It?

Not sure how many here were fans of the much-lamented TV comedy "Community" that aired on NBC in 2009. One of the tenets of the show was "six seasons and a movie." The community college set series made it to six, but never got the movie.

Until now.

Producers have confirmed they're finally going to make that much anticipated flick with the original cast, but it's not clear if or when Canadian fans will ever be able to see it.

The problem? It's being made for Peacock, which is not available north of the border. The hope is some streamer (or even better, OTA station) here will pick it up once it's ready for air and the final chapter of this very quirky comedy will finally graduate to an ending.

‘Community’ Movie Coming to Peacock

Likely be on a Corus owned property, they have the rights to Peacock original programming. Your right, if it was run on Global as a movie, no need to pay extra for a streamer.

I will be very surprised if it gets shown free OTA. But stranger things have happened. Where does this fit on the Stack TV line-up? Probably Showcase if anywhere. Certainly not Teletoon, although they did do one very famous episode where all the characters were animated!

One-offs like this, especially for franchises with a devoted following, are much more effective to drive subscriptions than brining in advertising for an airing or two.

It should be noted that AMC Canada has never broadcast the movie " El Camino " that wrapped up the Breaking Bad saga. It's been a Netflix only product. i have seen it listed  in the Rogers schedule twice in the past year but replaced by another movie both times with no update to their scheduling list.
