Do You Use Audacity For Audio Editing? You'll Want To See This
I've been a huge fan of Audacity as a computer audio editing tool for a long time, mainly because it's very easy to use, has some pretty limited but worthwhile features - and, best of all, it's free. Now the new owners of the software are adding even more features in a new version being released on Wednesday.

During my twenty years in radio, I was mostly a Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition user, and since my 2020 layoff have been using Audacity on a Linux-based PC. Audacity took quite some getting used to after using Cool Edit/Audition for so long, but I seem to have it down pat now, doing a lot of editing and multitrack for my wife's gig as a Junior A hockey DJ. (Side note: I'm now the local team's PA announcer.) More recently, I found a better USB audio interface, a yard sale find, to get balanced audio into and out of the system - it's a Steinberg UR44, connected to my Yamaha 02R console, and the audio quality is excellent compared to the computer's on-board audio I/O or the SoundBlaster G3 USB interface that I was using.
Looking forward to this newest version of Audacity!

I too cut my teeth back in the 90s with Cooledit/Adobe Audition and I've only been using audacity for about a year. It does the job and it's nice to see software that's being written with the goal of staying lean instead of bloating and requiring heavy iron just to run.
Another program worth considering is Reaper. It does things a bit differently but in a good way. It seems to be the direction that Audacity is heading. For $60, (but pretty much an unlimited trial) it's an amazing piece of software.

Reaper[/url] is a great, multi-track DAW and will run on almost anything and was developed by Justin Frankel, creator of Winamp. Reaper has a 60-day, uncrippled trial (it used to be unlimited). [url=]Audacity[/url] is an audio editor as is [url=]OcenAudio[/url], which is also free. Another reasonably priced DAW is [url=]Harrison Mixbus[/url]. And if you need a video and audio editor in one, the free or paid version of [url=]DaVinci Resolve comes with Fairlight.
For remote recording and session direction, look at the free SonoBus which works on OS X, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS. SonoBus is similar to and in many ways better than Source-Connect.
