It's a rare change for a family-owned radio station in Buffalo, but Lockport's WLVL will soon be in the hands of the same owner who converted 1440 AM to WEBR a few years ago. What that means for the longtime outlet at 1340 isn't clear yet, but it sounds like the new owner has some plans for the place.

Does the new owner have deep enough pockets to maintain ownership of Yankees game coverage?

In yet another move involving a Buffalo radio legend, Buddy Shula, the owner who transformed WECK into a very successful oldies station, has just bought a new radio outlet - this one in Key West, Florida.
It's not yet clear exactly what Shula intends to do with this new possession, but part of the deal indicates he has to keep the format the same for a time. And you'll never guess what that format is: disco.
Yes, there's still a station in North America playing disco.
I'm assuming at some point in the future, Shula will change the music but for now, when the deal goes through, he can presumably boogie in platform shoes into the night. It only makes sense - Shula is the kind of owner who likes to Rock the Boat.

Did you read the article?
Shula has offered $301,000 for the signal, currently operated under a disco format by California-Based NRG, which also owns Palm Springs radio station KJJZ 100.9 FM.

Did you tune into the station? "Disco in the morning. Dance all day."
ALSO
Be sure to tune in Friday nights @ 8PM for OLD SCHOOL FRIDAY NIGHT.
"Dust off your Members Only Jackets, and Peg your Pants, and Rat Your Bangs, because we’re going back to the 80s. Everything from JUST AFTER DISCO to the early 90’s is playing on Old School Friday Night every Friday beginning at 8PM on 937NRG."

We're talking about 24/7, all disco all the time. Not just when randomly seen fit or in mornings or whatever.

Close, but more classic driven vs All the hits.
Something closer to what Evanov could try airing on one of their HD channels, if desired.
(A wayback playback channel, maybe?)

About the sale of WLVL:
This is certainly refreshing, if the new owner keeps his word.
"Yuhnke said he does not anticipate a format change after the ownership transfer.
“We’re a Niagara County station and we need to serve the people here,” Yuhnke said. “We tried to keep the sales talks low key we didn’t want the staff to be worried. Before the sale was announced, Dick and I met with the staff and I told them they were all safe and we were gonna keep the (current) format.”
This is the big difference between big corporations like Audacy and Bell and a small mom and pop owner. The latter cares about his people and goes out of his way to reassure them. The former? Well, just ask any of the dozens and dozens of former CFRB employees.

It's AM...in the Buffalo Market. There's really no other format to switch to unless there's a desire to tackle sports and talk a lot about the Yanks.
I suppose Sports could fit in as part of the station's bread and butter, but not necessarily 24/7.

What impresses me is that one of the very first things the new owner did is to reassure the staff their jobs are safe. That doesn't happen very often these days.
Then again, I recall hearing that when Allen Waters died, the first thing Ron Waters and the family did was to assure everyone, "we're not selling CHUM Ltd.!" A year later, it was sold to Bell, with City TV going to Rogers.
The first thing Rogers brass did at City was to tell staff members that while they hadn't made up their minds, they had no intention of any layoffs. Less than a year later, there was a huge house cleaning.
So talk is cheap.
And for the record, WLVL does have an FM repeater at 105.3.
