New Documentary Highlights Battle Over Hard Rock Radio

The documentary is called "Static!" and it's set to debut on YouTube on Labour Day. This may be a freebie, but I'm not entirely sure if there's a charge to watch it until it's released.

"Based in Chicago, the film unfolds the history and evolution of hard edged radio stations, who competed against traditional commercial broadcasters in the 1980s...

"Static!" calls out corporate commercial radio stations, who refused to add groups such as Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, and Motörhead to their playlists, in order to satisfy advertisers."

It also features a host of DJs who worked for the stations as well as the artists who had trouble getting their music added to playlists at more traditional radio stations.

Not really my style of music but because it's about outsider radio, it may be worth a look. Here's where you can find it, beginning Sept. 5th.
