CHML Morning Show Airs On 640 Thursday
What happened to Greg Brady? So far, there's been no explanation, but anyone turning on 640 Thursday morning was greeted with a simulcast of CHML's morning show featuring Rick Zamperin. At one point, out of a break (which were local spots) the show's producer came on - over what sounded like a phone line - and told listeners they were listening to the Hamilton show, but did not explain why.
Their website indicates this will be on until 7:45 AM, when Rubina Ahmed-Haq - a frequent fill-in - will be rushed onto the air to begin local programming.
Whatever happened, it's pretty unusual. I can't recall a time in Toronto when a non-syndicated all-important morning show had to be temporarily piped in from out of town

They finally at least partially explained what was going on and it was just what you might think - Brady had what they're calling a last minute "family emergency" and they had to improvise a quick replacement - the Hamilton morning show.
Meanwhile, Rubina Ahmed-Haq took over as scheduled at 7:45. She noted that Brady won't be back until Monday - with John Oakley taking his place on Friday. It remains to be seen who sits in on his afternoon show. But it just seems they don't have a lot of back-up.
Speaking of which, one week into her new show, Alex Pierson won't be on Monday, either. She mentioned on-air as part of the chaos in the medical system, that she's been trying to get an MRI for six months - and she finally landed a spot on Monday. There's no way she can miss it, so the show will go on without her. But who will be in her chair hasn't been announced.
It means the station has a substitute host on Thursday's morning show.
A substitute host on Friday's morning and afternoon show.
And a substitute host on Monday's mid-morning show.
It's nobody's fault, but what a mess!

Whatever Greg Brady's "family emergency" was, it was apparently more serious than they thought. He was supposed to be back on the 640 morning show Monday, but once again, Rubina Ahmed-Haq was in his place. Still no word on what happened or when he'll return. There's nothing on his Twitter page to indicate what's going on.
But it means the entire morning line-up has been completely disrupted. Their morning drive show has an alternate host. And Alex Pierson, exactly one week into her new show, is also off. She's keeping an MRI appointment she's been trying to get for 6 months, and she wasn't about to cancel it. So weekend addictions counselling guru Yonah Budd will take her place instead.
