Scott Thompson on CHML talked about this at the start of his show this afternoon. They played some Teenage Head bumper music in and out of commercials. The Spectator broke the story and CHML didn't really have anything else new or more to add. For a brief time in 1979/81 Teenage Head was all over the radio, even AM top 40.

It was kind of surprising the way this story was covered on the local 6 PM TV news.
Both Global and City TV identified the ex-Teenage Head guitarist as the victim. CFTO jumped through hoops to never say his name, indicating police hadn't officially released it yet. But they did ID the son, who was arrested and charged with murder.
The first two stations tied the ID of the victim to sources, including people who live in the building. CFTO avoided any mention of the fact the guy arrested was the son, other than "police say the victims knew each other." I get why they waited, but at the same time, the identity of the deceased has been out there for hours, including in print, and there's little doubt who it is. And given his fame, it's not an insignificant detail.
So who got it right?

A Hamilton Police media officer was clipped on CHCH.... basically, it is believed that the death occurred a few days ago, and due to a state of decomposition, it was difficult to make a positive ID.
