Nextar Media Buying CW Network for Nothing Upfront

Nextar Media in the US appears to be close to buying the struggling CW network for no money upfront.  The new owners instead will assume over $100 million of debt. Nextar already owns a chunk of the networks 200+ affiliated stations. CW recently cancelled 10 shows and renewed 8 for the fall.  One of the programs scheduled to run this fall is season 4 of CBC's Coroner.  Rumours are that Nextar is interested in moving away from the youth oriented programming that CW had become known for.  More details from MovieWeb..https://movieweb.com/nexstar-reportedly-set-to-buy-majority-share-in-the-cwfor-0/

The question is, will they keep the branding? The “C” stands for CBS.

It could end up like UPN did in its later years, where the initials officially didn’t stand for anything after it was sold in a similar manner.

I always thought it was rather peculiar to derive an initialism from an initialism.

Although I guess, technically, the "C" actually stands for "Columbia", but when was the last time you heard anybody refer to CBS as the Columbia Broadcasting System?
