Picked up 990 Winnipeg This A.M.
For many decades have had my AM radio dialed in and around Newstalk 1010...
This morning was fishing around the dial and stumbled across AM 990 -- the C.B.C. station in Winnipeg...
It was 7:11 a.m. our time...
Listened to it for a few minutes to determine where it was ( I knew I hadn't heard it before) and then found out the signal crossed 1454 kilometers or 872 and-a-half miles to reach my shitty little bedside radio...
I'm just south of London, ON.
I have never had that happen before but a quick check of the map shows the signal crossed Lakes Superior and Huron and almost in a straight line so I suppose that wide flat expanse helped greatly...
Still it was a first...

Helps to be on a [so called] Canadian clear channel. I am getting them now too in Peterborough. Keep an ear out for CBC 540 Regina tho you will need something better than a bed side radio [your car!]. Conditions will improve as we approach Christmas

Unclefester, how did you manage to catch CBW living so close to London and CFPL? Are you in their null?

That's the 64 dollar question...for those that don't know CFPL is at 980...
And I get a listenable signal overnight at 1000 on the dial from the Chicago sports station...
I've been around that spot on the dial forever and a day and Winnipeg is a first as mentioned...
So what do I know ??
Well I'll guess it has to do with the time of year and the time of day re: pattern changes that go with it perhaps...??

Last I heard WRNJ Hackettstown New Jersey had moved to 1510 on your dial...
How old is that log book Dale ??

I'm aware of the move. But it doesn't change the fact that I heard WRNJ at 1000kc (on January 25, 1995 at 4:43 p.m.) I have yet to hear WRNJ at 1510 since they moved there from 1000 in 1996, but that was around the time my interest in DXing began to wane.
