Points Of "Departure:" Global's Long Missing Show Finally Returning

It's been about two years since we've seen or heard anything about "Departure," a Global-produced drama about a group that investigates transportation disasters. But now the new season is finally coming back to TV screens and you'll be able to see it free in Canada.

The show, which drew praise from many critics, is back on Wed., July 13th. While Season 1 looked into the cause of an airplane crash, the second go-round probes a deadly train derailment in Michigan.

"Was it the tech mogul inventor of the train’s automation software? Was it a mysterious member of a Mexican drug cartel? Was it a disgruntled employee resisting new technology? Working in conjunction with the FBI, Kendra [played by returning lead Archie Panjabi] must race to uncover the truth behind the crash and help to heal the damage caused by the terrible tragedy."

The 6-part season is also memorable because it's the final appearance for legendary actor Christopher Plummer, who passed away not long after the show was filmed.

"Departure" also streams on NBC-owned "Peacock" in the U.S., a service that's not available to Canadians.

I find it a bit surprising that Global is burning off this high-profile show in a summer run, when it attracted such good reviews in its first go round.

Departure Returns For Delayed Second Season

They have already filmed season 3 for Departure with Eric McCormick joining the cast.  Most filming was in Newfoundland and Toronto.  Wonder if Global is planning to run season 3 early in 2023 or in the spring?  Christopher Plummer had finished all of his scenes for season 2 prior to his passing.

NBC Peacock is not available anywhere outside of the US.  Only way to see it in all other countries and here is with a VPN with a US server. So the channel in fact is available to Canadians if you have a VPN.  Also Corus has the rights to all Peacock original content.

Somewhat off-topic, but Judas Priest's 'Point of Entry' is a very underrated album. It may not have had breakaway hits, but it's consistently strong.
