Scant to Zilch storm coverage on radio

Listening from Peterborough, I noticed next to no coverage, if any on most radio stations. I was listening over the air as the internet and streaming are down.
Kudos though to Citynews, CJBQ and CFRA

Re: Scant to Zilch storm coverage on radio

My suspicion is that this was because it was a holiday weekend, it happened in the middle of the afternoon, no one was expecting such a violent downpour and - perhaps the biggest excuse of all - most of the stations you'd expect to deliver on this no longer have anyone staffing their newsrooms, and the stations are mostly on autopilot.

The result? Zero to little coverage, as they rely on The Canadian Press' national top of the hour major to cover what is essentially a local story. What radio used to be most known for - up-to-the-minute bulletins and the ability to instantly react to a breaking story - is almost non-existent, especially on the weekends, blown out not by a storm but by people who care only about saving money.
