Canary in a coal mine.. A few days ago, Doug Ford was accused of sitting on a huge, nay ginormous chunk of money and this news barely made a ripple anywhere. Formerly great and news breaking Newstalk 1010 award winning newsroom, where are you when the listeners need your voices.
Tamara Cherry is once again co-host on The Rush this week for the second week in a row. Which is unusual. Could an announcement be in the works...

I hope Tamara Cherry does become permanent.
Online!
Here's an interesting question: Cherry lives in Regina, Saskatchewan currently - and famously wrote a Toronto Star piece in October 2020, "I love you, Toronto - it's time to say goodbye."
Does it matter that she live local for consideration of a more permanent co-hosting spot on an afternoon drive show for GTA radio? In the last two years, many have worked remotely - and before that, I remember reading talk here of a morning man or two broadcasting from Florida (in those days, via ISDN) with an audience none the wiser. Bill Carroll did his AM640 show while living in Los Angeles. And Maureen Holloway, of course, for years did entertainment hits across the country from her own home studio via ISDN.
Would Cherry need to live local to address Toronto and Ontario issues on a plum afternoon drive radio slot? Would it matter to the audience or to management?

As long as she admits where she is and keeps up with local issues, I suppose it would be OK. Personally, I prefer the host to be in the city of origin, because it's easier to catch the vibe of a place and make good local contacts when you're in it. Not to mention commiserate about the weather.
The late Neil Rogers was a huge talk radio star in Miami. It wasn't exactly a state secret but only a few times would he admit he was actually broadcasting his show from his home - in Toronto!
