I find paywalls odd. Mostly because most of the same stories are covered by multiple outlets, and one of them is going to post the story without a paywall. It's kind of like buying a newspaper, but it's mostly filled with news from wire services. Why pay for the newspaper?
I think if someone is going to force a paywall, they need to do more original reporting, covering relevant news that no one else is.

That's exactly it! Bang on! Too bad it's more important to fill the paper with internet news filler rather than local content from around town. & if there is a food recall, a paywall? Really? Just google what the subject line reads and there will be no shortage of info for free.
It's more of an issue of what's exclusive for the local content...what best sells and gets that paywall paid for.
Currently...NOTHING!
Maybe it's time to get rid of the paywall and just flood the screen with ads...
