It was called The Black Woodstock and most people have never heard of it. It was an incredible series of concerts held in the same year as the infamous Max Yasgur-situated event, but it never got any of the publicity.
The acts that appeared at these shows were simply incredible. B.B. King, Sly & The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight & The Pips and The Fifth Dimension, just to name a few. Hours and hours of "The Harlem Cultural Festival" were filmed but the footage sat in the producer's basement for over 30 years, until it was discovered by Questlove, the leader of the Tonight Show band The Roots.
The film he ultimately made out of all those performances not only captured a time lost to history, but also numerous awards. The tremendous talent on display is part of the musical magic of the 60s.
The flick has been on several streaming services for a while, but if you don't have Disney+, chances are you've never seen it. But you will this weekend, when it airs on ABC (Channel 7 in Buffalo) starting at 8 PM. You can see the trailer teaser below.

Thank you for this, RA. If I hadn't read it here, I would have missed it. Working on a major project that I will share with you at a letter date.

You're welcome, Mr. D. Hope you enjoy the documentary. Most of the legends were at the peak of their youth and power when it was made and I look forward to seeing them perform.
Good luck with your project, whatever it turns out to be! Let me guess - CFRB weekend mornings, right?

That may be because it airs Sunday not Saturday. Check on that day.
It's confirmed on the ABC website which you can find here, and they've been running promos for it all week long.
It's also listed on Zap2it.com. If your DVR doesn't recognize it, you might want to try creating a manual recording on Channel 7, from 8 PM - 10:32 PM Sunday night. Hope that helps!

Are you sure you're looking on SUNDAY night and not Saturday? It airs Sunday night. Why your Zap2it listings would be wrong when mine are right is hard to say.

Hey, it happens. My dog woke me up at 4:30 this morning and I'm surprised I can even type or keep my eyes open! Still no idea what he was so upset about.
