Hard to imagine that his widow is desperate for money, but with all the controversy surrounding the late American Top 40 host's death, anything's possible. She's put up a ton of stuff from his collection for auction and perhaps what's really surprising is how cheap the starting bids are.
The mic he used to record AT40 has a starting price of $250 - with an estimate it will go for between $1,000-2,000. I would have expected it might be valued at a lot more.
You can also buy his Teac reel-to-reel machine for between $200-300.
A passel of original 7" singles played on the show is also cheap (well, sort of) - yours for a song with an estimate of between $500-700.
There are letters from Dick Clark, cheques signed by John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Plus, there's tons of stuff from the American Top 40 days.
And on it goes.
You can see everything in the catalogue here. In the meantime, keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.
Not to mention your wallet.
