    New CBS "Survivor" Contestants Include Two From Durham Region

    I've never been a fan of CBS' Survivor, but if you are, you might be interested to know that the upcoming season features two locals, both from the Durham Region.

    Maryanne Oketch is a seminary student from Ajax, while Omar Saheer, an "exotic veterinarian," was born in Kitchener but now calls Whitby home. 

    I have never understood the allure of this show and have never watched a second of it. But if you do, you may want to root for the home team. 

    Survivor Contestants For Season 42

    Meanwhile, ABC's The Bachelor, another American show I have no time for, came to Toronto to conduct a little hanky-panky.

    It should be noted that the most recent season of Survivor had the first ever Canadian winner of the show, Erika Casupanan. In giving her congrats, 7 News' Ashley Rowe(who, like Erika, is a proud alum of Western University in London)said on her Twitter feed, "You've been outsmarting and outwitting since our days at Western...now the whole world knows how badass you are. Keep crushing it!"
