A "Timely" TV Weather Gripe

Anyone who's read my previous threads on the topic of TV weather will know that it's the most important part of a newscast for me. But there's one map that's the most urgent of all - it's the so-called Futurecast, in which they time out a storm and show you hour-by-hour when it's at its worst and when it's supposed to end. If you have to be somewhere at a certain time, even if it's only an estimate, it's invaluable information.

Which brings me to City TV, a newscast I don't watch that often. But every time I do, their weather "specialist" (shorthand for not a meteorologist) drives me absolutely round the bend. (And as I often say, it's not a long drive.) Maybe it's the forecaster or maybe it's the map they use. But whatever the reason, they always wind up standing right in front of the timeline and obscuring it with their body.

By the time, they move, it's gone by and there's no way to see when the snow, rain, monsoon or whatever might be coming to an end. It happened again on Sunday night, when Michelle Mackey blocked the information telling viewers when the huge snow dump that's coming might be expected to taper off - useful info if you're driving home at that hour. The clock is right behind her head in the pic below. But whatever it says is obscured by her standing right in front of it.

I'm not sure if this is deliberate, an accident or just a poorly designed graphic. But they've done it on every occasion I've watched them. And it's about "time" they stopped it.

See now, this is why I pay for cable. I can rewind live TV to the exact spot where she is not yet blocking the screen.
I'm not aware if Ignite TV has a live rewind feature though...

Re: A "Timely" TV Weather Gripe

I rewind it all the time and play it back in slo-mo because it goes by too fast. But it's useless if you can't see the clock as it changes hour by hour. All she has to do is step out of frame for a few seconds. Other stations do it. Or they could redesign the map and put the clock somewhere else so it's never blocked.
(If you love it when she wears something orange, would that make it an Orange Crush?)
