John Moore meets with old friend & former 1010 host

Wonder if they'll be announcing the return of a certain pair of co-hosts to the Newstalk 1010 airwaves. Guess we'll have to stay tuned and see.

Moore pretty much put the kibosh on that rumour Friday, talking about his visit to the farm and essentially saying the Motts are done with radio. The real question is whether that CP24 weekend simulcast is here to stay. My guess is it is.

I hope it a real person on air. Shame John D. isn't returning. The years he was doing the weekend mornings, there was often interesting stories and tidbits of behind the scenes information you likely wouldn't  hear anywhere else. A computer generated host that knows how to pronounce all the local streets and attractions?

I missed hearing that RA, appreciate the update.

Simulcast.... haven't actually checked it out but it's close enough to the word Simulac for me to expect pablum. Looks like TSN's OverDrive and the Jeff Marek show podcasts are all that's left for me to listen to, maybe I'll see what 640 is up to...

Edit: just saw this on Twitter! đŸ˜¡

How come Montreal's CJAD has a real show, guess I'll be tuning into the radio station I grew up listening to in the morning while eating breakfast and heading off to school in good ol' Beaconsfield.

Shame on you Newstalk 1010.
Thanks CJAD.

Thank you, Norman Peters.  Yes, 15 years having the #1 weekend morning show in Toronto.  To be honest, CBC 1 would slide ahead from time to time.  I loved my time there.

Re: John Moore meets with old friend & former 1010 host

I enjoyed hearing your do your thing over the decades on the radio John D.. Whether it was on a music station or all the years on the weekend morning show on CFRB. Friends wondered why I didn't sleep in on the weekends. I didn't want to miss any of the interesting tidbits on your weekend morning show on CFRB. I did have the pleasure of meeting you briefly on one occasion. If I remember correctly, you were the M.C. for a retrospective show with Gregory Peck at Roy Thompson Hall in the mid 90 s (?). My Mom was very much wanting to attend the event. Dad wasn't so big on going, so I escorted Mom to the show. Once the show was over, we found out that the lady sitting beside Mom, they were chatting off and on throughout the show, the lady was quite knowledgeable about Gregory Peck, turned out to be his wife. I told Mom during the show, my guess was she was the president of his fan club. Too young to be his wife.I had a 4 egg omelet  on my face once we found out she was his wife. Mom was thrilled to be able to spend a few minutes to chat with Gregory Peck, one of her favourite movie stars from the golden era of movies. And I at least got to say hello to one of my favourite radio personalities. That's my story, now, over to you John D.

My brother was named after Gregory Peck. Mom was a big fan.

So is his name Gregory or Peck? Inquiring minds want to know.

By the way, my mom was a big air conditioner!

(Sorry, Dale - couldn't resist!)
