You've probably heard about The Ship That Rocked, a recent movie about the creation of Radio Caroline in England. But New York City had its own pirate radio station broadcasting from a boat, this time in the 1980s. The linked article tells the story of who they were, what happened to them and what it ultimately led to.
This is by no means a new story, but the accompanying video is definitely worth a little over 8 minutes of your time.
Allan Weiner, the protagonist, is currently the owner of WBCQ, one of the few commercial non-religious shortwave stations still operating from the U.S.
