Ch 72 is now 50s Gold. It replaces the old 50s on 5 channel.
Whereas over half the play list on 50s on 5 was really music form the sixties or even seventies, the new Fifties Gold is pure 50s music. Some of it even goes back to the early fifties pre rock and roll era.
I'm not really a fan of fifties music. Got my bellyful back in the day. But I've been listening just to see how badly they'd screw it up. Surprisingly, they got it just right.

Thanks for that update. Are they running liners that actually say "Only the 50's..."?

Nonsense. In the last hour or so they've played "I Don't Know Why I Love You But I Do" Clarence (Frogman) Henry , "Go Jimmy Go" - Jimmy Clanton, "A Million To One" - Jimmy Charles - all from the early '60s.

Thanks for the correction. I guess I just haven't been listening enough.

What a piece of garbage! I'm glad I didn't invest in it.

Yep. You're right, as usual.
Put it on in the car for a while today. First song up was Duke of Earl from 1961.
They also played Gene Autry's Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer from 1949. But I suppose that's a perennial hit.
