Late in November of 2015 C.J.B.K. in London fired 40 year employee Steve Garrison. Steve had been doing mornings for two decades and was still a real station booster. Matter of fact when Steve went to visitations at local funeral parlours he'd be wearing his C.J.B.K. emblazoned jacket. I saw that with my own eyes. Anyway since his sudden departure he's not been replaced. I've counted 5 different guys and gals who have hosted the C.J.B.K. morning show since his departure...including some current employees...and at least one imported from Toronto for a weeks run in Josh Holiday. He was a real treat to listen to..... on one break he talked about getting a massage while trying very hard to hold in flatulence...
Charmed I'm sure...
The station recently lost the broadcast rights to the city's junior hockey team the London Knights...a financially lucrative franchise if there ever was one. And that started a new headache for Bell media management as the play-by-play man bolted after the team to the station down the road. He was part of the morning squad that had replaced Mr. Garrison. So here we are about 9 months after Steve was escorted off the property and their morning show is in full flux.
Bell media management...those assholes keep getting a wrong number...

Aside from losing play by play rights to the Memorial Cup Champion London Knights, CJBK had earlier lost Blue Jays baseball... also to AM980 CFPL. Indeed Bell Media has turned the station into a train wreck, even their mid-morning talk show isn't local... it comes from CKTB. Steve Garrison can still be heard as a frequent contributor to the round table on CFPL.
Maybe they'll pull the plug on this AM outlet next after CKSL goes off the air which Broadcast Dialogue says will be midnight August 14.
Just sad.

They're still simulcasting Tom McConnell out of St. Catharines? They started that a few years back; it might have even been an Astral move but I'm not 100% on that.
Also, good on Tom for being able to make it work.
Local works. Regional ultimately fails. [both the listeners and the advertisers] 'Mailed in' better be ever-so-outstanding or that'll fail miserably too.
Bell USED to be a good phone company...til a little bit of competition blew them right downstream. Now they're crappy at EVERYTHING.
As Gary Slaight used to admit...the biggest mistake he EVER made in radio was setting Don Daynard adrift. He regretted it every time the BBM results landed on his desk. This 'thing' with Steve Garrison is merely history repeating itself. Bell is just too stupid to do their homework,
