Want To Buy A U.S. Radio Chain?/Highest Radio Earners

It's kind of ironic that these two articles should come out on the same day. The first is about iHeartRadio, which used to be known as Clear Channel. They bought out a ton of stations in the U.S. and pretty well ruined almost all of them, by replacing all their local programming. Now they're reported to be in dire financial straits, with speculation they may have to sell off a lot of them to (another irony of ironies) pay back disgruntled investors.

Does Anyone Want To Buy A Radio Station? IHeartRadio Needs $6 Billion To Pay Back Loans

And didn't Bell just partner with these guys to bring some music services to Canada? Wonder what happens to that if they go belly up?

Meanwhile, Forbes has released the list of the highest paid radio stars down south. And there are some overly familiar names on the list. In fact, as the story indicates, they're the same names over and over and over.

America's Highest Paid Radio Stars Of 2016

Not sure if anyone in Canada could make such a list or is even close to those staggering numbers. But one thing is sure: the mighty earners' list is shrinking rapidly along with the industry. Makes you wonder if a Howard Stern could happen today.

Just goes to PROVE how little Bell knew or knows about broadcasting even so much as a metronome, a burning log...or even a whoopee cushion.

Yes Stern would have worked at any point as radio, by and large, is done SO poorly that it's a sitting duck to be knocked off by any and all who don't follow that tired, worn out, exasperating piece of merde format/formula which has proven to be a such an off-putting loser now for at least 2 decades.

Radio...the silly goose that killed the golden goose by selling out to 'people' SO freaking stupid that they ate the damm thing...whole

Bell licensed the name for concerts and will develop an app based on their very successful app. If IHeart goes under in the US it will have almost no effect on Bell at all, just like when Virgin Radio ceased to exist in the UK, our Virgin stations carried on.

Darn, I was looking forward to the return of Solo Smart phones.
So, are you saying Virgin radio in the UK is only an online thing now? http://virginradio.co.uk/

It's just recently back on digital radio only because a new company has licensed the name.  It didn't exist for eight years, and before that it was a terrestrial station.
