WYUL/WVNV Cease Operation

For 19 years radio in Montreal had real cross border competition with a couple of US stations situated near the Canadian/US border.  WYUL (Montreal's Hottest Hits) in Chateaugay NY and Wild Country WVNV in nearby Malone were two American stations that owed most of their existence to the larger cities directly north.  The two operations went silent at midnight September 30th.

In June WYUL and WVNV were purchased by Christian broadcaster EMF (Education Media Foundation) for $2.5 million. The stations have new call letters, equipment and a new format with EMF's K-LOVE radio network.  More details courtesy of Inside Radio. http://www.insideradio.com/free/parlez-vous-k-love-emf-closes-2-5-million-station-deal-along-canadian-border/article_905a6582-2231-11ec-b27b-07f7426f63a3.html
