Did A Fake Attack On A Radio Station Help Spark WWII?

I'd never heard this story before reading the linked article, and it's not the kind of thing you'd normally see here. But it just goes to show the duplicity and evil of the Nazi regime and how there were no lengths they wouldn't go to in order to justify their atrocious agenda.

While this is obviously not the real cause of that terrible war that led to the deaths of millions - and the Holocaust - I just never knew that this faked incident was one of the catalysts that was used to justify the horrors that followed.

As they say, you learn something new every day.

How Hitler's attack on one of his own radio stations helped lead to WWII

It is indeed true.  As you say RA,  it wasn't the cause of the war,  but it served as an effective piece of propaganda for the German public;  who believed for years that an "enemy" attack on the station had occurred.

It was coupled with the propaganda that homes of "German" people in Poland were being destroyed by the Polish government for no reason.
