I tuned in 97.9. " The Bruce" which serves Bruce county and the Peninsula.  The station (CFPS) recently added a repeater in Tobermory and changed format to classic/alternative rock. 

Much to my surprise on their Saturday evening program "The Bush Party", they were broadcasting a live concert  from Sauble Beach this evening for Sand Fest 2021.  The concert has featured indie band Born Ruffians who are originally from Midland and based in Toronto, and also singer Gavin McLeod and his band who are from Milton and have released 5 albums.   Gavin, not to be confused with the late captain of the Love Boat, or Mary's news partner!

Anyway the sound mix and music was great, you could hear the crowd on the beach clapping at the end of the songs and they handled the sponsorship of the show in an interesting way.  Rather than breaking for commercials, they would say that the concert was brought to you buy, Arctic Spa, The Sauble Beach Chamber of Commerce, Miller's Home Hardware etc.  then went right back to the show.  And they coordinated the breaks with the band so it went fairly smoothly.  The live broadcast finished at 10pm and The Bush Party is back to their regular request show until midnight.
