The Audacy station, which can usually be heard throughout much of the GTA, is replacing most of the staff with hosts from Los Angeles and Chicago for much of the day. Only the morning duo remain. It's part of a cost cutting trend by the owners, and the same personalities will be heard on owned stations with similar formats around the country, beginning Monday.

Just shows that the bottom line with sales is way more important than having hosts discuss local issues and talking with local listeners on-air. I get what these companies are striving for - but it’s also important to give the listeners local content

That's what radio is in the 2020s - centralized, boring, milquetoast, corporate cookie cutter content, with the only "local" content being ads, and nearly day-old canned rip-and-read weather forecasts from Environment Canada, with multiple place names totally butchered by an out-of-town Bell/Corus/Rogers/Stingray minion who did not make any attempt to confirm the correct pronunciation(s).

When 91.7 becomes Boom Niagara, you'll have stronger legs to stand on, but for now,
Giant 91.7 has good local announcers etc...

For NOW, the sale of Giant 91.7(and its sister station, CKYY(Country 89)) to Stingray is off. That said, even if it goes through, I don't think they'll make major changes.
