I note that on this week's calendar for the CRTC - which has notably not been very busy this last month or so - there's a scheduled decision for a new radio station for the area of Amherstburg, Ontario, a small town of just over 20,000 people. It's located about 25 kilometres south of Detroit and around 28 km from Windsor.
But even if the Commission agrees to the licence, it might be tough for anyone who isn't nearby to actually receive it. The proposal is for a low power (50 watts) FM station at 107.9 with "a mix of news, talk and adult contemporary music targeting the entire population of Amherstburg."
The application was first submitted in September 2020, and it's taken all this time to reach a conclusion. What that conclusion will be should be revealed sometime in the coming six days.

The hearing was in December 2020, so six months for a decision isn't really that long a time.

Denied this morning. Blackburn opposed the app, and used COVID as their excuse.
