FYImusicnews.ca seems to indicate Warren Cosford recommends and may even be one of those behind this fantastic 7-minute aircheck of CHUM-AM during its legendary Top 40 days. What I like best about it is that it doesn't rely on just one jock. It's more of a sampler of the station during its heyday, featuring one intro each from such greats as Jay Nelson, Terry Steele, John Rode, J. Michael Wilson, Darryl B., Tom Rivers, Scott Carpenter, Duke Roberts, John Mahjor and more. There's even a rare excerpt from Wolfman Jack doing duty on 1050.
It sounds amazing, but you wouldn't expect anything else because it was cut together by uber-producer Doug Thompson.
There are other things on this Soundcloud page run by someone using the moniker "Radio Pro," including a rarely heard behind-the-scenes sales presentation for the CHUM Star Sign contest, and a cut together sales piece for the station's justifiably famous special, The Evolution Of Rock.
But it's the montage that took me back to another time and place and if you've got 7:18 to spare, it may do the same for you.
And while you're listening, check out this other radio site, filled with artifacts, ads and promos from some huge - and a few not-so-huge - radio stations across North America, including CHUM, WABC, WLS and WOWO.

Thanks for posting that RA
It was nice to hear John Belmont at the 4:25 mark even if only for a few seconds
When I was a kid I admired him a lot

I'd forgotten that he worked there. I know the late Mark Dailey was a friend of his and they used to talk all the time, when Belmont eventually moved on to ABC Radio News.

Great little scope of 1050 CHUM from various eras. They were one of the best top 40 stations and good at everything. Always admired CFTR as well. They finally took the crown from CHUM after 12 years of trying and they did it sounding nothing like CHUM which made it even sweeter. TR went on to even defeat the venerable CFRB. CFTR left on top after 21 years as a top 40 outlet and had developed a unique and different sound for top 40 in the late 80's, early 90's. When CHUM bailed from the hit music format in 1986, CFTR just kept getting better and better. They were smart enough to know that the music era for AM in Toronto had long passed and got out at the perfect time in 1993. It would be interesting to hear a montage of CFTR over their years as a top 40 powerhouse. Like 1050 CHUM, they were one of the best.
